Are you looking for ways to fall in love with your scripture study? Here are 3 simple techniques and tips that can help you take your study to the next level!
1. Look for themes--when our mind looks for patterns in a text, we become more engaged and our comprehension increases! Think of a topic, question, or problem before you begin your study and see how answers and connections are formed as you read! If you have our highlighters, look for themes written on the side of each marker!
2. Write something--anything!--down- Richard G. Scott said, “Write down in a secure place the important things you learn from the Spirit. You will find that as you write down precious impressions, often more will come. Also, the knowledge you gain will be available throughout your life.”
Not only does more revelation come the more we write, but when we take the time to make notes, even small ones, our ability to remember and refer back to what we've learned and revelation we've received grows. Challenge yourself to use your wide-margins and write one note for each page you read.
3. Create visual associations with what you've learned-- Reading is great, but adding a visual element to your study, such as colors or pictures, can help you retain information! Using highlighters, drawing pictures, or adding stickers are some great ways to engage all your senses!
